Wynn Resorts Withdraws From Bid For Aqueduct Racetrack Slot Scheme

Casino News - November 7th, 2009 - Written by Glen

wynn resortAfter seeing gains on Wynn Resorts stock, it came as a surprise to many when Wynn pulled their bid for the operation of video slot machines in New York's famous Aqueduct Racetrack.

Two days before the bidding were to commence, Wynn Resorts Limited announced that they would be withdrawing from the bidding. Over 4,000 slot machines are to be added to the Aqueduct racino.

Governor David Patterson had announced that a requisite $200 million must be secured upfront for licensing fees, which could have been the cause for Wynn's removal from the race.

Penn National Gaming as well as MGM Mirage remain in the bidding, and Penn National has already offered a sum of $250 million to secure the license, despite their dropping stocks.

It is expected that the casino operators will hear the decision from the Governor and other legislators, who have the power to dictate where the license will land, by labor day. Until then, players in the great state of New York will have to stick to New York Online casinos for slot gaming, which include some of the Most Trusted Online Casinos.

The Aqueduct, which has long been one of the most popular racetracks in the nation, will see casino gaming in the near future, regardless of who has the licensing rights to operate the slots.
